Clustering this seems to work well and it probably makes sense, if you're cleaning up your entire collection, to locate all your VA compilations, select all tracks and make sure the 'Compilation' flag is set on them in iTunes. This is where it gathers what MusicBrainz would call 'Various Artist' releases.

iTunes has a special folder/artist called 'Compilations'.

The same is true of Save and probably several other things.

To me it feels a bit daunting to create a new release because of the sheer volume of info you can submit for it, but I think the important point is just getting the core info correct and getting it out there. This feels better to me than trying to join the tracks together on my side, because the fact that I have sourced a version of the recording with multiple tracks instead of one long track indicates that there are multiple releases 'in the wild', and therefore MB should reflect that.

I suspect the optimal solution is adding a new release to the release group, I've just never got around to actually doing it. Whoever created the MB release treats it as one long track called 'Song A/Song B/Song C' but my source has split it into three tracks. I've got many albums in my collection like this - keen to work out a solution too.ДЄs it happens mine are more often one track on the Musicbrainz release but multiple tracks on my side - often (but not always) they're from live bootlegs where two or more songs segue from one to another while being performed.

As an aside, does anyone know how to delete an incomplete release? I started down this path but started to question is it is the right thing to do. but that didn't work.Д¬reate a new release of the release group with 13 tracks. I already tried renaming them 11a., 11b., and 11c. Rename the 3 files to have them be identified as part of the 11th track. I can see 3 possible ways to resolve this: When I first scanned the album it picked up the 11 tracks and had 2 Unmapped Files. When I ripped the CD it split that track into 3 files ('Deck the Hall with Boughs of Holly', 'We Three Kings, and 'God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen'). I have a Christmas album that according to MusicBrainz has 11 tracks on the 2nd CD, with the 11th track being 'A Christmas Suite: Deck the Hall with Boughs of Holly / We Three Kings of Orient Are / God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen'.
